The short version: I collect only what I need to run this site and deliver the course to you. I don’t sell your data. I don’t spam you. You can ask me to delete your information at any time. The long version is below.

Who I am

This website is operated by Taria Dawson, trading as Sketch Your Adventures / Taria’s Sketchy Adventures. If you have any questions about this policy, you can reach me at taria@urbansketchingworld.com

What information I collect

I collect information in two ways: information you give me directly, and information collected automatically when you visit the site.

Information you provide directly:

  • Your name and email address when you purchase a course or sign up for my newsletter
  • Your payment details when you make a purchase (these are handled securely by ThriveCart & Stripe — I never see or store your full card details)
  • Any messages you send me directly by email

Information collected automatically:

  • Basic analytics data about how you found the site and which pages you visited (via Google Analytics / Google Tag Manager)
  • Cookie and tracking data from Meta (Facebook/Instagram) if you clicked through from one of my ads
  • Standard server log information such as your IP address and browser type

How I use your information

I use the information I collect to:

  • Deliver your course and any bonus materials after purchase
  • Send you the email newsletter you signed up for
  • Respond to your questions or support requests
  • Improve the website and understand how people find it
  • Show relevant ads to people who have visited the site (via Meta’s advertising platform)
  • Comply with legal obligations

I will not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Email marketing

If you purchase a course or sign up for my newsletter, you’ll receive emails from me. These may include course updates, sketching tips, information about new products, and the occasional offer.

You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email or by emailing me directly. I use BirdSend to manage my mailing list.

Payments

All course purchases are processed through ThriveCart. When you check out, you’re entering your payment details directly into ThriveCart’s secure system — I do not receive or store your credit card information. ThriveCart’s own privacy policy applies to that transaction.

Cookies and tracking

This site uses cookies — small text files stored on your device — for the following purposes:

  • Analytics: Google Analytics helps me understand how visitors use the site so I can improve it. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
  • Advertising: The Meta Pixel tracks visits to this page so I can run retargeting ads on Facebook and Instagram and measure how my ads are performing. You can manage your ad preferences at facebook.com/ads/preferences.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect how the site works.

Third-party services

This site uses the following third-party services, each of which has its own privacy policy:

  • ThriveCart (payment processing and course delivery)
  • Stripe (payment processing)
  • Google Analytics / Google Tag Manager (website analytics)
  • Meta (Facebook/Instagram advertising)
  • BirdSend (email newsletter)
  • Cloudways (website hosting)

How long I keep your data

I keep your information for as long as necessary to provide the service you signed up for, or as required by law. If you purchased a course, I retain your purchase record for accounting and legal purposes. If you unsubscribe from my email list, I will remove you from active mailing but may retain a record of your email address to ensure you’re not accidentally re-added.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information I hold about you
  • Ask me to correct any inaccurate information
  • Ask me to delete your personal information
  • Object to me processing your information for marketing purposes
  • Request that I transfer your data to another provider

To exercise any of these rights, email me at taria@urbansketchingworld.com and I’ll respond within 30 days.

If you’re based in the European Union or United Kingdom, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

If you’re based in South Africa, this policy is intended to comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Children’s privacy

This site and its courses are intended for adults. I do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If you believe a child has provided me with personal information, please contact me and I will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

I may update this privacy policy from time to time. When I do, I’ll update the “last updated” date at the top of this page. For significant changes, I’ll also notify active customers by email.
